The Lolin32 is an ESP32 development board with a built-in lithium battery charger, making it one of the easiest ways to build portable and battery-powered Wi-Fi and Bluetooth projects. Plug a 3.7V LiPo or Li-ion cell into the onboard PH-2 2.0mm connector and the board runs untethered, then recharges the battery automatically whenever USB is connected.

It is built around the dual-core ESP32 with 4MB flash, 26 usable GPIO, 10 capacitive touch pins and a CP2104 USB-to-serial chip for reliable programming from the Arduino IDE, PlatformIO, ESPHome or MicroPython. At 58 x 24.5mm and under 6g, it suits wearables, remote sensors, data loggers and any project that needs to run away from a wall plug.

Key Features

  • ESP32 dual-core 240MHz processor with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (Classic + BLE)
  • Onboard LiPo / Li-ion charger (TP4054, up to 500mA) with charge indicator LED
  • PH-2 2.0mm battery connector for 3.7V cells, including 18650s with a suitable lead
  • CP2104 USB-to-serial interface for programming and serial monitoring
  • Deep sleep support with wake on timer, GPIO, touch or ADC
  • Compatible with Arduino IDE, PlatformIO, ESPHome and MicroPython

  • Ethernet MAC with dedicated DMA and IEEE 1588 PTP support
  • CAN bus 2.0
  • Infrared remote controller (TX/RX, up to 8 channels)
  • Motor PWM and LED PWM (up to 16 channels)
  • Hall effect sensor and ultra low power analog pre-amplifier
  • Security: WPA/WPA2, WAPI, secure boot, flash encryption, 1024-bit OTP
  • Hardware crypto acceleration: AES, SHA-2, RSA, ECC, RNG
  • Power: internal LDO, separate RTC power domain, 5µA chip deep sleep current

Notes

  • All GPIO use 3.3V logic. Do not connect 5V signals directly to the pins.
  • Board level sleep current is higher than the ESP32 chip figure because the regulator and USB chip stay powered. For the lowest battery drain, use deep sleep and keep radio use short.
  • Check battery polarity before connecting. PH-2 leads are not standardised between battery suppliers.
