The W3230 digital temperature controller is a microcomputer based thermostat module designed for precise heating and cooling control. Operating from a 24V DC power supply, it integrates a high current 20A relay, a bright LED temperature display, and simple front panel controls for fast configuration without additional programming.
Temperature measurement is handled by an included waterproof NTC probe with a 1 metre cable. The controller supports a wide control range from -55°C to 120°C with a resolution of 0.1°C in the most commonly used range. Measurement accuracy, control accuracy, and return accuracy are all rated at 0.1°C, making the W3230 suitable for applications where stable temperature regulation is required.
Heating and Cooling Operation
The W3230 supports both heating and cooling modes selectable through the internal menu system. In heating mode, the relay activates when the measured temperature falls below the set point and switches off once the set point plus the return difference is reached. In cooling mode, the relay activates when the measured temperature exceeds the set point and switches off when the temperature falls below the set point minus the return difference.
An adjustable return difference allows precise hysteresis control from 0.1°C up to 30°C. This prevents relay chatter and provides smooth temperature regulation for compressors, heaters, and fans.
Built In Protection and Control Features
The controller includes multiple protection functions to improve safety and extend equipment lifespan. A configurable delay start function allows delayed activation of heating or cooling devices after power up or cycling, with a selectable delay from 0 to 10 minutes. This feature is particularly useful for refrigeration compressors.
Upper and lower temperature limits can be set to restrict the adjustable temperature range and prevent accidental over-temperature or freezing conditions. A temperature calibration function allows fine offset adjustment between -7.0°C and +7.0°C to correct sensor placement or environmental variation.
Alarm support is built in with a configurable alarm temperature. If the temperature exceeds the defined range, the relay is automatically disconnected for safety. Sensor fault detection is also included with clear on screen error indicators.
