3mm LEDs are ideal when space is limited. They’re perfect for use in smaller enclosures, indicator panels, model lighting, wearables, or any build where standard 5mm LEDs might not fit. Despite their smaller size, these LEDs still deliver bright, reliable light with a soft diffusion.

Each LED is suitable for breadboarding, soldering onto veroboard, or connecting to GPIO pins. Like all LEDs, they are polarised components—the shorter leg is the cathode (GND/negative). A current-limiting resistor (typically between 220Ω–1kΩ) should be used in series to protect the LED and ensure long life.

The operating voltage ranges from 1.8–2.2V for red, green and yellow, and 2.4–2.7V for white and blue. A current between 16–18mA is recommended, with 20mA being the maximum.
