The IR Infrared Obstacle Avoidance Sensor Module is a high-performance, adjustable sensor optimized for Arduino projects, smart car robots, and automation applications. Operating on a 3-5V DC power supply, this compact module uses infrared reflection technology to detect obstacles within a 2–30 cm range at a 35-degree angle, with a configurable detection distance via an onboard potentiometer. Featuring a red power indicator and a green obstacle detection LED, it provides clear visual feedback. The module outputs a digital signal (low when an obstacle is detected) through its OUT port, which can directly interface with microcontrollers like Arduino or drive a 5V relay. With 3mm screw holes for secure mounting, it’s easy to install in various setups. Ideal for robot obstacle avoidance, line tracking, and proximity sensing, this module is sensitive to target reflectivity and shape, offering maximum detection range for white surfaces and minimum for black. Equipped with a reliable LM393 comparator, the threshold voltage is pre-adjusted for plug-and-play use, though fine-tuning is possible if needed.
Key Features:
- Power Supply: Compatible with 3-5V DC, suitable for 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers.
- Indicators: Red LED for power status and green LED for obstacle detection.
- Adjustable Detection: 2–30 cm range, 35-degree angle, adjustable via potentiometer (clockwise to increase distance, counterclockwise to decrease).
- Output: Digital low signal on obstacle detection, directly connectable to microcontroller I/O or 5V relay.
- Infrared Technology: Active IR reflection with a transmitting and receiving tube pair; detection distance varies with target reflectivity (white surfaces: max range; black surfaces: min range; small objects: shorter range).
- Mounting: 3mm screw holes for easy and secure installation.
- Applications: Robot obstacle avoidance, smart car navigation, line counting, black/white line tracking, and proximity sensing.
Specifications:
- Operating Voltage: 3.3–5V DC
- Detection Range: 2–30 cm, adjustable
- Detection Angle: 35 degrees
- Output Interface: Digital (0 and 1) via OUT port
-
Connections:
- VCC: 3.3–5V external power
- GND: Ground
- OUT: Digital output to microcontroller or relay
- Comparator: LM393 for stable signal processing
- Dimensions: Compact design with 3mm mounting holes
- Usage Notes: Pre-adjusted threshold voltage for immediate use; avoid unnecessary potentiometer adjustments unless required.
This module is a robust and user-friendly solution for hobbyists and developers working on robotics, automation, and IoT projects, offering reliable performance and easy integration.
