How to Use

  1. Power the board. Plug in a 5 V micro USB supply such as a phone charger or USB power bank. For permanent installs, solder a 3.7 to 5 V supply to the power pads instead.
  2. Connect your audio device. Run a 3.5 mm audio cable from the output jack to the AUX input of your amplifier or powered speaker.
  3. Pair. Open Bluetooth settings on your phone or computer, select the board from the device list and connect. The indicator LED will change once paired.
  4. Play. Start playing audio and adjust volume from your phone or the amplifier. Next time the board powers up, it will reconnect to the last device automatically.

Tip: If you hear a buzz or hum, it's usually a ground loop from sharing a power supply with the amplifier. Powering the board from a separate USB supply or adding a ground loop isolator on the audio line will normally fix it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I connect speakers directly to the 3.5 mm output?

Only powered (active) speakers. The output is a line-level signal and can't drive passive speakers on its own. For passive speakers, connect the board to an amplifier first.

Can I run it from a battery?

Yes. A single 3.7 V lithium cell connected to the power pads works well, making it a good fit for portable speaker builds. Use a protected cell or a charge and protection board.

Does it work with computers and TVs?

Yes. Any device that can send audio over Bluetooth, including laptops, desktops with Bluetooth and many smart TVs, can pair with it.

Can I use it in a car?

Yes. Power it from a USB port or car USB adapter and connect the output to the car's AUX input to add Bluetooth streaming to an older stereo.
